Biography: Horatio Caine, head of the Miami-Dade crime lab, a forensic analyst and former bomb squad officer. He's very protective towards his people. Horatio is sometimes called 'H' by his team. His trademark is putting on and removing his sunglasses, often several times in an episode. He often stands sideways to the person he is speaking to and tilts his head slightly. Additionally, he frequently smiles flirtatiously at his primary suspect. Usually within the first 30 seconds after the crime sequence is shown, he greets Frank Tripp using his name, and asking a question or commenting about the crime. He has become somewhat of a cult icon. During the first three seasons, Horatio's slowly-revealed backstory mainly concerned his late brother. In season 4, after the resolution of that storyline, a new part of Horatio's history is starting to be revealed. In episode 407 Felony Flight, Caine is served and expected to show in court. In episode 408 Nailed, Caine reveals that a DA in New York is going after him for the murder of the man who killed Horatio's mother. Caine is also now dating Eric Delko's sister. In episode 413, "Collision", Caine reveals to a minor character that his mother was killed by his father.

Biography: Calleigh Duquesne was born in rural Louisiana in a "shotgun" shack not long after her parents' shotgun wedding. Her mother came from wealth and her father was a dashing public defender. Unfortunately, it was not a match made in heaven. Calleigh grew up watching her parents drown their disappointments. Both were alcoholics. Later, with the help of a teacher, Calleigh enrolled at Tulane University with a full scholarship. Calleigh studied and earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics. Protecting justice became the call of her life. While walking a beat for the New Orleans P.D., her knowledge of firearms gained her the nick name, Bullet Girl. After some time in the New Orleans crime lab, Calleigh's boss received a call from an old friend in Miami, Horatio Caine. Miami-Dade was looking for a ballistics expert, and Calleigh came into that role.

Biography: Eric Delko was born in Cuba, but raised in Florida after his father smuggled his family across the Straits of Florida. His father worked with an engineering company, while his mother worked with charities in Miami's Cuban community. Here, Delko learned there was another side to the American dream and that the only way to survive was to help one another. Throughout his schooling, Delko's father pushed him toward science but Delko had other plans in mind. He graduated with a swimming scholarship to the University of Miami. Delko took a science degree to appease his father, but Delko dreamed of gold medals. By his senior year, Delko realized his Olympic dreams were not going to happen. He also realized that a life of building codes was not for him, so he told his father he would not be joining him at the firm. With the seed planted by the community work he did with his mother, Delko realized helping others was the way to make a difference. He offered his skills as a swimmer to the MDPD underwater recovery department. He became an elite officer on the team. Having met Horation during a bomb scare, Delko's natural instincts and scientific curiosity impressed Horatio. When Horatio took over the crime lab, he recruited Delko. A medal was in his future, the badge of a Miami-Dade Crime Scene Investigation team.

Biography:Alexx Woods Miami-Dade coroner. Alexx began her medical career as a practicing doctor, but circumstances had her leaving New York for Miami as a coroner. She has an eccentric habit of talking to the dead bodies as she examines them, usually as a way of giving them comfort in death. She is married with a son and a daughter.

Biography: As the first responding officer at the scene of a bus crash, Patrol office Ryan Wolfe impressed Horation Caine enough to earn himself a chance to work with CSI. Benefiting from luck and timing, Wolfe was able to get his feet wet on a case very close to home, involving Calleigh's father, who was a suspect in a possible vehicular homicide. Wolfe immediately made it known that he is more interested in uncovering the truth than proving himself, and by using traits already inherent in his character-- intelligence, drive and a sense of curiosity--he was able to put scientific knowledge into context and solve his first case. As a new CSI, wolfe will not only have to prove that he can do the job, he will also have to fill a spot once held by Tim Speedle, whose untimely death has rattled the tight-knit CSI team.

Biography: Natalia Boa Vista is a new latina DNA analyst only allowed to work on cold or unsolved cases due to the restrictions of her federal grant. She and Delko are currently dating, and at one point she thought she was pregnant with his child. She later found out that it was just a small illness. She apparently just got out of an abusive marriage before joining the crew, when her association with a society for battered women was key to helping the team solve the murder of a women assuming an alias for protection. Some members of the police department, though not the CSI team itself, suspect that she is a mole that has been leaking information out of the lab.
